Kaitlynne is a South African swimmer from Gqeberha. She competes in freestyle, backstroke, IM and open water events.

Tell us about your earliest swimming memory.

One of my earliest swimming memories was when I went for my first swimming lesson dressed in my Hello Kitty costume and matching goggles. I only wanted to learn how to do a tumble turn.

Why is swimming such a special sport for you?

Being in the water is a completely different experience. It is a low impact sport and can be a social or competitive activity for the whole family.

Which of your achievements are you the proudest of and why?

One of my proudest achievements was when I qualified for FINA Junior Open Water Championships. I worked very hard to achieve my goal. I was super happy and excited when I qualified.

How do you stay motivated throughout the season?

Thinking about my goals and the times I want to achieve in the upcoming session keeps me motivated. Knowing that my teammates and I face these challenges together makes it special when we overcome them.

What are your goals for the year ahead?

My goals for the year ahead are to represent South Africa and make my country and Speedo proud.

What do you do to prepare for a race?

I like my quiet time before my race and my mom's lasagne the night before.

Apart from swimming, what do you do for fun?

I enjoy stand-up paddleboarding with my friends and family, baking and going to my dance classes.

Why are you excited to be a part of the Speedo family?

Speedo's products are fantastic and I have always wanted to be part of this amazing family. Knowing that there are other talented athletes in the Speedo family, like Rebecca Meder and Tatiana Schoenmaker, makes it special to be part of this family.
