Cocoa, Spinach and Avo Smoothie

Active bodies need lots of energy and protein, but they also need extra micronutrients and anti-inflammatory ingredients for protection and repair. All exercise is technically a stress on the body and boosting intake of micronutrients and antioxidants increases resilience to stress of all kinds.

Baby spinach has a neutral flavour and can be added to most smoothies to provide extra nutrients, like vitamins A, K and C, folic acid and iron. Cocoa is also high in polyphenols (plant-based antioxidants).

Cocoa, Spinach and Avo Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 handful baby spinach
  • 1 heaped tsp cocoa powder
  • ½ avocado
  • 2 dates
  • 1 banana
  • Add about ½ cup water and ice, as needed
